John Packard "JP" Vaughan
September 19, 1913 ~ February 3, 2001


John Pakard Vaughan, 87, Glencoe, died Saturday, February 3, 2001, in his daughter's home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Colonial Chapel Funeral

Home's chapel with the Rev. Norman Richmond officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.

Vaughan was born September 19, 1913, to Hugh and Lillie [Ketchum] Vaughan and spent his childhood in various towns in Texas and southern Oklahoma, where he came to have a great love of the land and farming.

On December 31, 1935, he married Frieda Scharnhorst in Woodward. They moved to a farm just outside Stillwater in 1947. She died September 17, 1995.

Vaughan attended Highland Park Freewill Baptist Church for more than 20 years.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Roberta and Jerry Baker and Glenda Treat, all of Glencoe, and Linda and James Lease of San Angelo, Texas; seven grandchildren, Robbie Vaughan of Stillwater, Gary and Kerry Baker of Ripley, Summer Jordan of San Angelo, Kaleb Lease of Waco, Texas, Todd Treat of Glencoe and Amy Johnson of Midwest City; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Vaughan's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Karen Kay [Hansen] Vaughan
April 20, 1942 ~ December 17, 2020


Karen Kay Hansen Vaughan was born April 20, 1942 to Lawrence and Dorothy Hansen. She passed away surrounded by her 3 children in Enid, OK on December 17, 2020. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in Stillwater, OK. There will be a visitation and viewing December 22, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater.

Karen graduated from Stillwater High School in 1960. She later attended OSU where she met and later married Jack Brisco. Together, they had 3 children. They divorced as Jack started his wrestling career but Karen remained close to Jack and his family. She married J.R. Vaughan in 1970 and from this union she gained a step-son, Robbie and a daughter, Nova born in 1971.

Karen was a very artistic and creative person. She enjoyed quilting and painting. She loved animals and babies. She was a free spirit who marched to the beat of her own drum. Karen was the favorite mom of her children’s friends with her sparkling personality and beautiful smile. She was honest and friendly and taught her family to be kind to others.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Deborah Whatley and husband Craig; daughter, Jennifer Rose; son, Barry Jack Brisco and wife Kristy. Grandchildren, Ashley Brisco-Gillespie, Cole Whatley, Molly Whatley, Savannah Brisco, Jake Brisco, Luke Whatley, and Andie Brisco. Great-grandchildren, Brandon Gillespie and Emersyn Gillespie. She is also survived by her sister, Darla Holland and husband Tom Holland.

She is preceded in death by her husband J.R. Vaughan, daughter Nova Vaughan, step-son Robbie Vaughan and her parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Hansen.

John Robert "Robbie" Vaughan
June 11, 1963 ~ July 20, 2011


John "Robbie" Vaughan, 48, of Stillwater, passed from this life on July 20 in Tulsa, surrounded by those he loved. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Crosspointe Church, 1807 N. Jardot, in Stillwater, OK.

John Robert Vaughan was born on June 11, 1963 to John Robert Vaughan and Victoria Allen.

He was raised in the Stillwater area and attended school in Ripley where he excelled as a basketball player.

Robbie attended vocational school in Tongue Point, WA. When he was 22, Robbie returned to Stillwater to take care of his aging grandparents and their farm.

When he was 28, Robbie married Lori McLemore in Stillwater. They had two daughters, Destiny and Brandi Vaughan, whom Robbie adored.

Robbie worked for a few years as an oil well pump mechanic. He worked for more than 10 years as a heavy equipment operator for Oklahoma State University. After leaving OSU, he owned and operated his own backhoe service. Robbie suffered a career ending injury and retired to the family farm.

Robbie Vaughan enjoyed life. He was an ornery prankster and practical jokester who loved to have a good time, but was also very respectful and a gentleman. He and his family attended Crosspointe Church.

Robbie enjoyed coaching his girls in T-ball, Softball, and basketball. He was their biggest fan.

He also enjoyed muscle cars, fishing, hunting, mechanics, and watching TV shows related to cars.

He was a loving son, a proud father, an honest friend, and a family protector. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Robbie is survived by his daughters: Brandi and Destiny Vaughan of Stillwater. Mother: Vickie Esser and husband Robert of Vancouver, WA. Grandmother: Lola Neely. Six aunts: Corky Williamson, Lacquanna Hawkins, Judy McCurry and husband Elmer, Roberta Baker and husband Jerry, Linda Lease and husband James, and Glenda Vaughn. His beloved dog and constant companion: Jenny, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: J.P. and Freida Vaughan and Bill Allen, Father: J.R. Vaughan, Sister: Nova Vaughan.
