David Robert Kerns, 61, passed away on February 11, 2018, in Tulsa, OK. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., in the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
David was born on June 3, 1956, in Stillwater, OK, to Robert Owen and Glenda (Mullinax) Kerns. David attended Stillwater Public Schools and graduated from C.E. Donart High School. He furthered his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK. On July 3, 1990, he married Jami Newlin in the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater.
David was Vice President and Superintendent at his father’s company, Kerns Construction, of Stillwater. It was there that he earned the respect of co-workers and competitors alike because of his willingness to work alongside them as an equal and not as a boss. He was always the life of the party and liked by all throughout his life. He had many friends and was loyal to them all.
David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mittaline Livingston Kerns and Loren Glenn Kerns.
David is survived by his parents, father Robert (Betty) and mother Glenda Kerns; his two sons, James Robert and Matthew David Kerns; and one brother, Jeff (Susan) Kerns, all of Stillwater, OK.
