Rose Marie [Courtright] Hayes
July 27, 1930 ~ December 12, 2001


Rose Marie Hayes, 71, Ripley, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Stillwater Medical Center. Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Strode Chapel. Pastor Larry Eslinger will officiate. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Funeral services arranged by Strode Funeral Home.

Hayes was born July 27, 1930, in Perkins to Flourney and Myrtle [Hickman] Courtright. She married Edsel "Lyle" Hayes April 3, 1948, in Guthrie.

She graduated from Ripley High School in 1948. She was a homemaker until 1968 when she began working at Cushing Hospital where she worked for 15 years. In 1985, she began working at Ripley School as a switchboard operator, until May 2001. She loved taking care of her family, cooking, sports and attending sporting events at Ripley.

Hayes is predeceased by her parents, husband Nov. 1, 1988, one sister and one great grandchild.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry Hayes of Pine Bluff, Ark., Jimmy Hayes and his wife Margaret of Shawnee, and Roger Hayes and his wife Crystal of Stillwater; one daughter, Karla Hayes Moffit and her husband Al of Cushing; one sister, Iva Ruth Cooper of Ames; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
