Roberta Grimsley, 100, a retired school teacher, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at an Arlington hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, First Baptist Church of Arlington, 300 S. Center St. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sunset Memorial Park, Stillwater, Okla. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Roberta Grimsley was born Sept. 17, 1904, in Mannsville, Okla. She resided at Angelic Place in Arlington. Mrs. Grimsley was a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington and was a Sunday school teacher. She retired from teaching after 28 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thurston Grimsley; and her son, Joe Elbert Grimsley.

Survivors: Daughter-in-law, Emma Grimsley of Arlington; grandchildren, Keith Grimsley and wife, Vicki Grimsley, and Jan Grimsley; great-grandchildren, Kyle Grimsley and Christi Chames; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nola Marguerite [Anthony] Grimsley

Marguerite Grimsley, Stillwater, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at the Stillwater Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Dr. B Gordon Edwards officiating assisted by Trudy Morphew. Strode Funeral Home will direct the services; private committal services will be held in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Grimsley was born Jan. 25, 1913, near Frederick. She was the younger daughter of Mark and Nola [Wolfe] Anthony. She attended school in Frederick and after graduating from Frederick High School in 1930, she attended Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha. At the end of two years, she received a provisional teaching certificate. She returned to Frederick and in the fall of 1932 she began teaching third grade at the grade school she attended.

Her principal there was her former first and second grade teacher.

In 1934, she went to summer school at Oklahoma A&M where she met Stillwater businessman Norman V. Grimsley. They were married Jan. 23, 1937, and made their home in Stillwater. To this union were born two children, Jane and Mark.

Grimsley received her bachelor's and master's degrees from OSU and continued her teaching career in elementary schools in Stillwater, winning several awards. She was active in educational organizations at the local, state and national levels.

She was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church; a member and past officer of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution; the Colonial Dames; Chapter BV of P.E.O.; and several music, social and book review clubs. She loved to travel and participated with the Oklahoma Friendship Force visiting many countries.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter, Jane.

Grimsley is survived by her son, Mark Grimsley and his wife, Mary Ann, Stillwater; grandchildren and spouses, Dan and Trisha Grimsley, Dallas, Texas; J.D. Grimsley, Dallas, Texas; Darbi and Tim Sefeik, Stillwater; Melissa and Curtis Lewis, Idabel; Mark A. and Christina Ross, Houston, Texas; as well as seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Judith Karman Hospice, or the charity of your choice.

Dorthy Mae [McKee] Grimsley Kercheski
December 18, 1916 ~ April 13, 1993


Services for former Stillwater resident Dorthy Grimsley Kercheski of Corpus Christi, Texas, are planned for 10:30 am Monday, April 19, in the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater.

The Rev Gordon Edwards will officiate at the services, which include interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

People wishing to make memorial contributions are directed by gamily to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs Kercheski died Tuesday, April 13, 1993, in a Corpus Christi hospital at the age of 76. She was born in Enid on December 18, 1916, the daughter of H. C. and Tina [Frederick] McKee. She was educated in Stillwater and graduated from high school there.

She married John A. Grimsley in Stillwater in 1937 and they maintained their home here until he died in May 1967. While in Stillwater, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Epson Sigma Alpha Sorority.

She married Dan Kercheski in Winterhaven, Calif, in 1970 and moved with him to Corpus Christi. Mrs Kercheski is survived by her second husband, of the home; two sons, Ji, Grimsley of Longmont Colo, and Jerry Grimsley of Vancouver, Wash; one daughter, Tina Grimsley-Weiss of Longmont, Colo; a number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She is also survived by two brothers, Wade McKee and Fred McKee, both of Tulsa.
