William Clift Grantham
July 20, 1950 ~ January 26, 2002


William Clift Grantham, 51, Little Rock, Ark., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at their residence. Viewing will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roller Chenal Funeral Home followed by an 11 a.m. chapel service. Private entombment to follow in Stillwater. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society.

Grantham was born July 20, 1950, in Stillwater to Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Grantham; he was one four children of strong Methodist faith. He grew up primarily in the Midwest. He graduated from the University of Nebraska. He then went to work for 15 years at the Cooper Aerobic Center in Dallas, Texas, under the guidance of Dr. Kenneth Cooper. In 1988, new opportunities took him to Little Rock to develop the Little Rock Athletic Club as we know it today. Grantham was also instrumental in overseeing the Downtown Athletic Club, taking over the North Little Rock Athletic Club and remodeling/renovating the Little Rock Racquet Club. He was a honorable man who was sincere and responsible. He evoked loving kindness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jettie O. Grantham.

Grantham is survived by his wife, Jamie Ruth Hundley Grantham, Little Rock; mother, Barbara Nell Clift Grantham, Little Rock; sisters, Jetta Wise and husband John David, Minneapolis, Minn., and Penny Roth and husband Allan, Springfield, Ill.; brother, David Grantham and wife Conny, Sacramento, Calif.; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
