Mrs Roy Georgia, 83, Dies
Services Slated Here Tuesday

Del City ~ Mts Roy Marion [Myrtle Ent] Georgia, who moved to Del City three years ago from Stillwater, died Friday, July 10, 1981, in the Oklahoma City Medical Center. She was 82.

Two services will be conducted Tuesday. The first will be at 10 am at the Chapel of the Flowers Funeral Home, 400 SW 28th St, Oklahoma City with the Rev J. Cecil Coover in charge.

A brief graveside service will be at 2 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, south of Stillwater. The Rev James Cord of the First Christian Church of Stillwater will be the officiant.

She was born on May 21, 1899. the daughter of George and Isabelle Ent of Helena, Indian Territory.

As a young woman she attended Northwestern State University at Alva, receiving a two year degree and later had a year at Oklahoma A&M. She held a teaching certificate.

She was a member of Tri Sigma social sorority while at Alva.

She was teaching school at the time of her marriage in Cushing on January 20, 1929, to Roy Marion Georgia, who was then the County Agent of Greer County.

The couple had homes in Hollis, Marietta, Idabel and Prague before establishing a longtime residence in Stillwater at 520 S. Hester.

Mrs Georgia was a deaconess in the Stillwater First Christian Church and an active member of the Christian Women's Fellowship and other church groups.

Her husband predeceased her on May 13, 1973. Also predeceasing her are a daughter, four sisters and a brother.

Surviving is a daughter, Mrs Kara Petrovich of Campbell, Calif; a son and his wife, Roy and Beverly Georgia of Del City; five grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs Pearl Johns of Shadduck and Mrs Mildred Seay of Drumright.

Roy Franklin "The Colonel"
March 3, 1933 ~ December 15, 2001


GEORGIA "Col." Roy F. Georgia, 68, left his earthly home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2001. Roy was born in Hollis, Oklahoma the son of Roy Marion Georgia and Myrtle Ent Georgia. He was married to Beverly June Hubbard in November of 1971.

During his career, he worked as a teacher, landman, and real-estate broker. The "Colonel", as he was often called for his auctioneer title, spent over 40 years selling real estate. For over 30 years he owned an auction and real estate business in Del City, OK.

Roy was a graduate of Oklahoma State University's School of Geology. His interests included collecting everything from antique cars to old books and records, attending jazz concerts, and spending many hours reading at the public library. In addition to all his activities, Roy was a long-time member of Sunnylane United Methodist Church in Del City, the Early Ford V8 Club, Oklahoma Mineral and Gem Society, and a graduate of the Certified Auctioneer Institute.

Roy is survived by his younger sister, Kara Belle Petrovich of Campbell, California, two nieces, Margaret Echols and Barbara Echols Smith, their children; Aaron Echols, Julia and Collin Smith of California, his only child, Roy Michael Georgia of Edmond, one grandchild, Camry Anne Georgia, and his former wife Beverly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Del City Public Library in care of Roy F. Georgia.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at 10:00 AM at Sunnylane United Methodist Church, 2020 S. Sunnylane Rd. in Del City under the direction of Paylor Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma at 1:30 PM.
