Ephraim Edward "Ed" Davidson PhD
April 11, 1923 ~ October 4, 2010


Dr. Ephraim Edward "Ed" Davidson passed away October 4, 2010 at his residence in Stillwater. His funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on October 12, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Stillwater with Reverend Paul Jones and Dr. Tim Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ed was born in Oxford, Mississippi, April 11, 1923 to Roy and Garna Davidson. He attended University High School and graduated in 1940. He worked for the Western Auto Store until 1943, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served until 1946. Returning home, he worked in several automotive businesses as a mechanic, body worker, and general manager. He married Mary Eddie Parks in 1948 and in 1951 started a degree program at University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). He received a BBA degree in 1954, followed by an MBA in January 1955 and passing the CPA exam in 1955.

Davidson was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Etta Sigma, Beta Alpha Phi, and ODK. He served as Director of University of Mississippi Millsaps Center in Jackson, Mississippi. In July 1957, he was transferred to the main Ole Miss Campus at Oxford to become Business Manager for the University. In 1962, Davidson took a leave of absence to pursue a PhD at Louisiana State University, which he received in 1966. IN 1968, he was employed by Oklahoma State University as Vice President for Business and Finance and held that position until his retirement in June 1986.

During his tenure as Vice President, he co-authored a book with Dr. Clarence Scheps of Tulane University entitled “Accounting for Colleges and Universities.” He also authored other publications.

Davidson has been a Rotarian since 1958 serving in many capacities and was a member of the Evening Rotary. Faith was very important in his life as was his church, First Baptist Church of Stillwater. There he served as a deacon, school teacher, and on the finance committee.

Davidson is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Garna Davidson and one daughter, Brenda Jo Horton English.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters, Debbi Myers and husband, Dr. John Myers of Vinita, OK, Sandy Miners and husband, Craig of Tucson, AZ, Gail Hurd and husband, Jud of Fort Collins, CO, and Vicki Craven and husband, Jim of Stillwater, OK; three brothers, Howard Davidson and wife, Dorothy of Oxford, MS, Gordon Davidson and wife, Bobby of Olive Branch, MS, and Whit Davidson and wife, Clara Jane of Oxford, MS; one sister, Jean Crawford and husband, Kirby of Oxford, MS; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary Eddie Davidson Davidson
February 17, 1924 ~ March 1, 2018


Mary Eddie Parks Davidson passed away March 1, 2018 at her residence in Stillwater, OK. Funeral services will be at 10:30am on March 16, 2018 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater with the Reverend Paul Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mary was born in Oxford, Mississippi on February 17, 1924 to James Edward Parks and Angielion Pennington. She graduated from University High School in Oxford in 1942. She married Ephraim Edward "Ed” Davidson in 1948 and by 1949 was starting to have one of her five baby girls. Mary worked several years for the First National Bank in Oxford before moving to Stillwater in 1968 when her husband, Ed took the position of the OSU Vice President for Business and Finance. Mrs. Davidson lived for her family. She loved cooking, quilting, china painting, antiquing, garage sale hopping, gardening and just spending time with Ed, her girls and their families. Mary and Ed loved to entertain and played chicken scratch with friends. After the girls were grown and gone, Mary decided to enter the real estate field and went to work for Century 21 Preston Agency, Homes of America and later - she and her daughter, Vicki, bought and ran Bryan Agency until her retirement.

Mary loved the Lord and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Stillwater. She was also a member of Stillwater Women’s Club, Antique Hunters Club, Arts & Humanities, Sewing Circle, Lois Glass Round Table, WMU President, Lahoma Club Newcomers President [1969-1970] and an honorary member of Kappa Delta Sorority.

Mrs. Davidson is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Davidson; daughter, Brenda Jo Horton English; sisters, Beulah Adams and Doris Richard. Mary is survived by her brother, James Parks [Janice] of Oxford, MS; daughters, Debbi Myers [Dr. John] of Vinita, OK, Sandy Lewis of Tucson, AZ, Gail Hurd [Jud] Fort Collins, CO, Vicki Craven (Jim) of Stillwater, OK; 13 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren and 2 great- great- grandchildren.

The family would like to gratefully thank Golden Oaks Village and the wonderful staff for the care of Mary during the many years of her residency. The family would also like to thank Karman Legacy Hospice and their staff for their care of Mary during her year of Hospice care.
