Edward "LeRoy" Collyar
November 18, 1929 ~ January 30, 2003


Leroy Collyar, 73, of Stillwater, died at his home Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003.

Graveside services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Pastor Norman Richmond officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m.

Collyar was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Shamrock to Ed and Millie [Zimmerman] Collyar. He attended Cushing Public Schools and the family later moved to Midland, Texas, where he graduated from high school.

After his education he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War as a medic. While in Korea he received three bronze stars for gallantry.

Upon his honorable discharge from the service he returned to Midland where he was a Linotype operator at the Midland Reporter.

The family moved to Stillwater in 1968 where he was employed at OSU as an offset duplicating machine operator, retiring in 1992.

In 1954, he married Betty Ledlow in Midland.

A second marriage was to Dottie Tyler on Aug. 10. 1973, in Bentonville, Ark.

He greatly enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing pitch.

Collyar was a member of the Baptist faith, and a member of Moose Lodge No. 2089.

He was predeceased by one brother, Norville Styron.

Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Steven L. Collyar and his wife, Dana, of Edmond; daughters Dorothy Scarbrough and her husband, Terry, of Stillwater and Sheri Chamberlain of Georgia; grandchildren, Tyler and Jennifer Scarbrough of Stillwater, Jessica and Kevin Collyar of Edmond, Tiffany Brooks, Joe Michael Vines and Tommie Chamberlain, all of Georgia and Amanda Blair of Dallas; one sister, May Buttery of Nevada, Mo.

Memorials may be made to Judith Karman Hospice, 915 S. Main, Stillwater 74074.

Dorothy Ann "Dottie" [Miller]
April 1, 1931 ~ June 11, 2012


Dorothy Ann Collyar, 81, of Stillwater, OK, passed from this life on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Stillwater Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Her services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 10:00 AM at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens south of Stillwater. A public visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 13.

Dorothy was born on April 1, 1931 in Mt. Pleasant, PA to Frank Benjamin Miller and Emma Helen Stefl .

In 1966, she relocated to Stillwater. She held many various jobs, but was employed by Northside Cleaners in Stillwater for over 35 years, and worked there until just before her passing.

Dorothy was a feisty woman who loved nurturing her family, cooking, and fishing. She enjoyed her garden and growing beautiful flowers.

Dorothy was proud to be one of Tiger Woods' greatest fans and enjoyed watching golf on television.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Scarbrough and her husband Terry, of Stillwater; a son, Steve Collyar and his wife Dana, of Edmond; grandchildren Tyler Scarbrough and his wife Lauren, of Moore, OK, Jenny Scarbrough, of Stillwater, Jessica Collyar and Kevin Collyar, of Edmond; great grandchildren Paige, Christopher, and Madeleine Scarbrough, of Moore. She is also survived by special friends Art and Brenda Perkins, of Perkins, OK; and Karen and Bob Thurman, of Perkins, OK.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Collyar in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, as well as three brothers, and a sister.

The family would like to thank Encompass Home Health for their excellent and compassionate care of Dorothy, and would like to request in lieu of flowers, that donations be sent to Encompass Home Health.
