Alvin Ellsworth Chasteen
September 23, 1920 ~ July 17, 2001

Alvin E. Chasteen, 80, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at his Stillwater home. Services, with Pastor Susan Ross, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Strode Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

She was born on Sept. 23, 1920, in Hartford, Ark. to Lawrence Ellsworth and Rachel May [Strickland] Chasteen. He married Esther Nanzio on Nov. 22, 1972, in Long Beach, Calif.

He attended Hartford schools and worked for Ford Motor Company in Los Angeles for 30 years before retiring to Perkins in 1976.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Church and the AFL-CIO Union Auto Workers.

He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, a sister and a grandchild.

Survivors include two daughters Jeany Catlett and her husband David of Stillwater and Debra Marks and her husband James of Moore; five step-daughters Viola Moore of Moore, Romona Larson of Stillwater, Darlene West and her husband Buddy of Tryon, Robin Spicer and her husband David, of Stillwater and Leona Aufleger and her husband of Tryon; four brothers Herbert Chasteen of Tulsa, Carl Chasteen of Broken Arrow, Thomas Lewis of Collinsville, and Edward Higgins of Collinsville; and three sisters Helen Brassfield of Antioch, Calif., Jessie May Chasteen of Broken Arrow and Allene White of Tulsa.
