Estelle [Manire] Chambers
August 5, 1913 ~ December 16, 2017


Estelle Chambers, 104, of Oklahoma City, passed from this life on December 16, 2017 at her home in Epworth Villa. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma with Reverend Adrian Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Estelle was born August 5, 1913 in Elmore City to Horace Bishop Manire and Mary Della Manire. She graduated from Classen High School in 1930 with National Honors; she then attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Degree in 1934. She was a music teacher in the Oklahoma and Virginia public school systems and was also a school counselor. In 1943, she received her pilot’s license by the Civil Aeronautics Administration.

Estelle married Richard Powell Chambers on December 23, 1947 in the Methodist Church.

Estelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Hubert Manire; two sisters, Louise M. Anglin and Alma Ruth Horn.

She is survived by one son, Tom L. Chambers; two grandsons, Ian and Richard Chambers; seven great grandchildren, Devan, Sawyer, Levi, Alex, Angelina, Olivia and Amelia; numerous nephews and nieces.
