James Franklin "Jack" Brown
October 22, 1918 ~ November 6, 2006


James "Jack" Franklin Brown was born on October 22nd, 1918 to Henry Frank and Gladys [Skinner] Brown in Pickton, Texas. He attended school in Texas and farmed during his youth. In 1942, he joined the United States Armed where he served as a Military Policeman. He continued with the Army until 1946.

James was united in marriage to Eula Hux on June 20th, 1943 in Pickton, Texas. The couple had remained married for 63 years.The couple moved to Stillwater in 1948.

James was employed as a milk processor with Craft Dairy and the OSU Physical Plant. In his spare time, James enjoyed fishing and loved gardening. He enjoyed listening to music and enjoyed the Senior Citizens Center. He liked to eat dinner at Project Heart and loved watching any type of OSU athletic events. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. James was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Ingalls-Glencoe Masonic Lodge # 128. He was a member of the American Legion Stillwater Post # 129 and was a longtime member of the Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church.

James passed away on November 6th, 2006 at the Stillwater Medical Center. He was 88 years old. He is survived by his wife, Eula, of the home; two daughters, Vickie Brake and husband Charles of Stillwater, Brenda Sanders and husband Wayne of Perkins; two sisters, Florence Wylie and Pauline Fontnilla of Texas; one brother, Ottis Brown and wife Kathy of Texas; five grandchildren, Jason Brake, Brain Sanders and wife Jodie, Justin Sanders and wife Kara, Travis Brake, Amanda Sanders; four great grandchildren, Clayton Peterson-Sanders, James Sanders, Kennedie Sanders, Jailee Sanders; sister-in-law, Melba Battles; brother-in-law, Ottis Brown and wife Bobbie Nell; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Daisy Barrett and an infant brother, G.A. Brown.

Services for James "Jack" Brown will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday November 9th, 2006 at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dale Doss will be officiating. Musical selections will be performed by Donnie Hoffman. Pallbearers will be members of the Ingalls-Glencoe Masonic Lodge.

Visitation will be held at Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 8th from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will be available to meet guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family has entrusted Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Thelma Kay Brown, 83, Stillwater, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. The Rev. Joe Rhodeswill officiate. Services are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Luther.

Brown was born May 14, 1919, in Utica, to Tony and Hettie Brown.

She owned and operated Kay's Casual Shop in Stillwater for 23 years. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Stillwater. She was also a member of the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and the American Business Women's Association.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brown and two brothers.

Brown is survived by three children, Jimmy Brown and wife Dana, Oklahoma City, Terry Brown and wife Christine, Jones, and Tony Brown and wife Carrie, Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren, Lauren Brown, Kelsey Brown, Terry Brown, II, Wayne Brown, Michael Brown, Christopher Brown, Zachariah Boyles, Brandon Brown, Jessica Dawn, Tara Kay and Dallas Renee; also 14 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Donald Marion Brown
May 23, 1923 ~ March 28, 2004


Donald Marion Brown, 80, of Stillwater, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in Stillwater Medical Center. Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Strode Chapel with Johnny Clark officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

He was born in Stillwater May 23, 1923, to Arthur Miles and Ollie Izola [Webb] Brown.

He married Wanda Jean Smith April 2, 1945, in Stillwater. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 1993.

He was born and raised in Stillwater where he attended area schools. He lived in the Stillwater area all his life except for the time he served in the armed forces.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and worked as a general painting contractor.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by sons, Donald and Ronald.

He is survived by four sons, Allen Brown and wife, Dorothy, of Tulsa, Gerry Brown of Ingalls, Clarence Brown of Stillwater and Rocky Brown of Ohio; five daughters, Wanda Jean Castellanos and husband, Gustavo, of Cushing, Minda Carol Robinson and husband, Steve, of Cushing, Alana Rae Clark and husband, David, of Glencoe, Roxann �Roxy� Baldwin and husband, Mike, of Stillwater and Diana Thomas and husband, Johnny, of Ripley; three brothers, Arthur E. Brown, Kellis Brown and Darrell Brown, all of the Tulsa area; 23 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

William George "Bill" Brown

W. G. "Bill" Brown of Stillwater passed away Friday evening, Sept. 27, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was 74. Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 P. M. at University Heights Baptist Church, where Mr. Brown was a long-time member, and burial will be 10:00 A. M. at Sunset Memorial Gardens south of Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mr. Brown, a 1956 graduate of Stillwater High School, was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Carney. He was the son of Roy L. and Beulah Cypert Brown.

Mr. Brown attended Oklahoma State University before leaving to serve two years on active duty as a Naval Reservist. He was stationed on Kwajalein Island in the Pacific and then served aboard the USS Norton Sound.

After his discharge from the Navy, he married Ruth Helt of Stillwater on Dec. 27, 1960. From 1960 through 1961, he owned and operated Brown Tire in Cushing. From 1962-1998, he owned and operated Brown Distributing Co., Inc., in Stillwater, a wholesale tire company covering six states. Always a salesman, after retirement he sold sports nutritional supplements to wrestlers.

Mr. Brown, a wrestler at Stillwater High School and a state champion, and his friend Lou Ussery, who became a life-long friend after they met in the Navy, were originators of the White Jacket Club for OSU wrestling. The club is now the Cowboy Wrestling Club. He was a Governor Associate at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum and kept the official NCAA record book for the Wrestling Hall of Fame.

A Mason, Mr. Brown served on a degree team for 40 years and received a 50-year hat from the Guthrie Consistory and a 50-year pin from the Stillwater Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert R. Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home; son, Billy, and his wife, Alison, of Nashville, TN; mother-in-law, Helen Helt, of Stillwater; sister-in-law, Carol Helt Hix, and husband, Harry Hix, of Stillwater; brother-in-law, Ken Helt, and wife, Nelda Helt, of Stillwater; Nancy Ussery, special friend of the family; and several nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to National Wrestling Hall of Fame at 405 W. Hall of Fame Ave., Stillwater, OK 74075; Stillwater Pioneer Athletic Memorial at PO Box 351, Stillwater, OK 74076; or the charity of your choice.
