Elizabeth Mae [Caldwell] Braswell
December 23, 1923 ~ November 26, 2013


Elizabeth Mae Braswell, 89, passed away on Nov. 26, 2013 ,in Protection, Kan. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday. Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mae, as she was known, was born Dec. 23, 1923 to James Caldwell and Catherine Pottier in Stillwater. She attended and graduated from Glencoe High School in 1941. She worked in retail sales with Sears until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Sunnybrook Christian Church. She was also a part of the Prime Timers Sunday school class and Rebekahs Lodge #16. In addition to her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mae was a special adopted grandma to many. She was lovingly nicknamed "Grandma Mae" by many Stillwater residents and was an honorary member of all their families. Her extraordinary cooking skills and the personal recipes she shared will be treasure for generations to come.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Owen Caldwell.

She is survived by one son, Jim Braswell and wife Tammy of Sand Springs; three daughters, Charlotte and Gary Girk of Protection, Kan.; Linda and Gary Crosthwait of Lone Grove, and Bonnie and James Evans of Broken Arrow. She is also survived by one brother, Everette and Carletta Caldwell of Stillwater; two sisters, Wilma Wehr of Stillwater; and Irma and Bob Brown of Houston; and one sister-in-law Ruby Caldwell of Edmond.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Logan Girk of Protection, Kan., Matt Crosthwait of Stillwater, Brian Crosthwait of Boswell, Mark Crosthwait of Lone Grove, Jason Evans of Broken Arrow, Travis Braswell of Sapulpa and Troy Braswell of Sand Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to Protection Valley Manor, 600 South Broadway, Protection, Kan.67127.
