February 17, 1913 ~ March 18, 2009


Susan Audra Boyce, 96, of Stillwater, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Stillwater. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Calvary Assembly of God Church with Pastor Rusty Rhoads officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1913, in Stillwater to John Wesley Wood and Lenorah (Patton) Wood. She married Harry William Boyce on Oct. 30, 1929, in Stillwater. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1992.

She attended school at Eden Center. She was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church.

She was a gifted quilter and quilted at First Assembly of God Church and Calvary Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, gardening and crossword puzzles. She loved to play games.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, one grandson, one great-grandchild, one brother, two half brothers and two half sisters.

She is survived by six children, Joann Austell and her husband, James, of Stillwater, Gene Boyce and his wife, Jeanie, of Stillwater, Jerri Branson and her husband, Elmer, of Oklahoma City, Carolyn Gottfried and her husband, Cecil, of Stillwater, Lavena Young and her husband, Jerry, of Stillwater, and Lorena Smallwood and her husband, Clifford, of Stillwater; 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
