Raymond Ralph Bode
September 9, 1916 ~ September 25, 2006


Raymond Ralph Bode, 90, died on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006 at Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater, Okla. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Stillwater, Okla. with Dr. Norman Richmond officiating. Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater, Okla. will be handling all of the arrangements.

Raymond was born on September 9, 1916 north of Orlando, Okla. to Benjamin B. Bode and Maude Hazel [Dilley] Bode. He attended school at Darnell School #12 and than attended School #9. After school, he worked on the family farm. In 1941 he enlisted in the Army and served in the Army until 1945. While in the army, Raymond was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Silver Star Medal, the EAME Service Ribbon and one Silver Star Service.

After his service in the military, he returned to the family farm for a short period before moving to Stillwater, Okla. In 1946, he married Maribelle Wright and they shared a life together for 47 years. In 1951, he opened his own business as an independent contract. He was an independent contractor until he retired in 1988. A great deal of the residential concrete work in Stillwater was done by Mr. Bode. He also helped place the roof on the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. He donated his time to put in the handicapped ramps at the high school and the courthouse. He also was able to get the materials he used donated as well. Raymond enjoyed gardening and was an OSU baseball fan.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one daughter, Mona Hope.

He is survived by one son, Mike Bode of Stillwater, Okla.; one daughter, Toni Wood and husband, Lynn of Owasso, Okla.; one son-inlaw, John Hope of Spencer, Okla.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Howard R. Bode of Mulhall, Okla. and Louis W. Bode of Guthrie, Okla.; and one sister Hattie Knott of Oregon.
