Services for Irene Ward Bishop, 91, of Orlando, Fla will be at 10:30 am Friday, August 27, at St Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Rev Robert Fellows officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Colinial Chapel Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends at Colonial Chapel this evening from 7 to 8 o'clock.

The former Stillwater resident died at Winter Park Hospital in Orlando on Monday, August 23, 1993.

She was born February 19, 1902, in Major County, daughter of Richard Stanley and Stephanie [Condrey] Ward. She attended and graduated from Major County schools in 1920.

Mrs Bishop attended Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1924 with a home economics degree. She taught school in Bristow and in west Texas.

On January 1, 1933, she married John Lester Bishop Jr in Stillwater. After their marriage, they moved to Watonga and returned to Stillwater in 1936 and operated Dutch Bishop's Barbecue Restaurant from 1936-1942.

After his return from the service in World War II they operated Bishop's Gift and Knit Shop.

Mrs. Bishop established Irene's Knit Shop on south Washington in 1956 and worked out of her home for many years as a seamstress, retiring in 1972.

After retirement the couple continued to live in Stillwater. She moved to Florida earlier this year to be near her son.

Mrs. Bishop had been an active member of St Andrew's Episcopal Church and was a member of Business and Professional Woman's Organization.

She was predeceased by her husband on April 11, 1982, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one son, John Ward Bishop of Orlando, Fla; one daughter, Mrs. George M. [Monica] Berry of Stillwater; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Ward of Stillwater; and two sisters, Annamarie Cleland of College Station, Texas; and Hazel Adcock of Falls Church, Va. Pallbears include Robin Ward Bishop, Gayle Ward, Stanley Ward, James E. Berry, Jay M. Berry and Jefferson Frank Berry.

Memorials may be made in her name to St Andrew's Episcopal Church, 516 W. Third.
