Leona Mae [Anderson] Bates
August 12, 1917 ~ September 7, 2012


Leona Mae Bates, 95, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 7, 2012 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Leroy Hawkins officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leona was born near Chandler, Oklahoma on August 13, 1917 to David Francis and Rosa [Denny] Anderson. She married Roy C. Bates on August 26, 1932 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma. Leona was a member of the First Assembly of God.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Roy Arthur Bates; brothers, Elmer, Donald and Ray Anderson; sisters, Donna Kirkpatrick, Fay Bales, Nola Brooks and an infant sister; and four grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Zona Marie Huber, of Stillwater, OK; daughter, Betty Catherine Estlinbaum, of Bethany, OK; son, Orville Earl Bates, of Marlow, OK; daughter, Mary E. Hall, of Stillwater, OK; daughter, Linda Sue Metcalf, of Stillwater, OK; daughter, Connie Sanders, of Stillwater, OK; brother, Elvin Anderson; twenty-two grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Roy Arthur Bates
March 11, 1934 ~ May 10, 1992


Services for Roy Arthur Bates will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 13, at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Bates died Sunday, May 10, 1992 at his home. He was born March 11, 1934 in Chandler to Roy Clifford and Leona May [Anderson] Bates. He married Virginia Reynolds April 28, 1957. That marriage ended in divorce.

He grew up in the Chandler area and attended Oak Grove School.

He served in the US Army in Germany following high school. After his time in the service he attended Okmulgee Vo-Tech for auto-body repair.

Afterwards he kived in Yukon for 30 years and was self-employed at Roy's Body Shop in Bethany. He retired a year ago and moved to Stillwater.

Bates is survived by his parents; four daughters, Susan [Bates] Holmes of Enid, Melinda Lea [Bates] Wilson of Stillwater, Sandra Bates of Oklahoma City and Michelle [Bates] Lolley of Perkins; one brother, Sonny Bates of Oklahoma City; five sisters, Linda Sue Metcalf, Mary Ellen Hall and Connie Sanders, all of Stillwater, Marie Huber of Phoenix, Ariz, and Betty Estlinbaum of Bethany and six grandchildren.

Timmy James "T. J." Bates
December 17, 1984 ~ July 20, 2010


STILLWATER, Okla ~ Timmy James "T.J." Bates was sadly taken from us on July 20, 2010, at the age of 25. T.J. was born on Dec. 17, 1984 in Stillwater, Okla. He grew up in Stillwater and enjoyed riding four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and working on cars. T.J. had a kind heart and loved being around family and friends.


 T.J. is survived by his parents, Terry and Barry Adams of Morrison, Willie Bates of Stillwater; brothers Jessie Bates, Casady Adams, Cody Adams of Stillwater, Torrance Adams of Morrison; sisters Leslie Bates-Sloan, Tiffany Weaver, Mickella Adams of Morrison, Melanie Adams-Saunders of Guymon; nieces and nephews Braxton and Brooklyn Sloan, Aryanna and AJ West, Preston Bates, Logan and Blake Saunders, Kaslyn Adams and Kaylie Lee.


 Funeral services will be Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Mehan Union Church. Interment will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2010, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m.


 Every day we will miss you, but we will always love you and carry you in our hearts.
