Home Stillwater, Oklahoma September 2013 Bonnie [Hayden] Alexander Bonnie Mae [Hayden] Alexander, 91, died peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2013 in Stillwater, Okla. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 30th, at First Christian Church with Reverend Owen Cayton officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. On August 1, 1922, Bonnie was born in Clinton, Okla., to the late Victor and Katie (Serber) Hayden. She graduated from Clinton High School before attending Southwestern University, where she earned her Master's degree in Education. She married Archibald Boyd Chalmers Alexander on December 28, 1944 in Clinton. Together they lovingly raised two beautiful children, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage before Arch's death in 2005. As educators and travelers, Arch and Bonnie's married adventures brought them to live in Tuscan, Ariz., as well as Hobart, Sayre, Stillwater and Lawton, Okla., but also included assignments in far-flung locales like Egypt and Jamaica, too. She was a member of the First Christian Church and involved in the PEO. Bonnie was a teacher, librarian and pianist, and shared her passions for music, reading, cooking, and sports with her family and friends. She is remembered fondly for her loving spirit, her beautiful voice, and for her most excellent barbecue beef brisket. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Sheila Mae (Alexander) Cates. She is survived by her son, Joe A. Alexander, of Warrenton, Va.; granddaughter, Terri A. Alexander, of Bixby; granddaughter, Holly A. Welling, of Suwanee, Ga.; granddaughter, Carrie A. Alexander, of Lithia, Fla.; grandson, Patrick A. Cates, of Laurel, Mont.; granddaughter, Kristen L. Cates, of Great Falls, Mont.; granddaughter, Diana Garnett, of Warrenton, Va.; great-grandchildren: Joe, Steven, and Conor Mullen, Ty Welling, Genevieve and Grace Allen, and Mallory and Cooper Cates; sister, Katie Ann Ware, of Edmond; and brother, Ross Victor "R.V."
