Edith Almyra [Frank] Adler

Edith Almyra [Frank] Adler, 98, a long time resident of Morrison, passed from this life on Saturday, December 24, 2011. Services will be Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Strode Chapel, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Rev. Roy Fleshman of the Morrison Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

Edith was born on September 3, 1913 in Morrison, Oklahoma, The youngest child of thirteen children born to John and Hanna [Spahr] Frank. She attended grade school at Shiloh country school and graduated from Stillwater High School. She was a long time member of the Morrison Community Development Association and Morrison Fire Association.

Edith married Christ Henry Adler in Stillwater on March 23, 1936 and was blessed with five children.

They both attended Shiloh School and lived in the Morrison Community only a mile apart for most of their childhood. When Shiloh and Morrison Schools were consolidated, Henry and Edith bought the school house and converted it into a residence. Edith was living in the school house she once attended until the middle of September of this year, when she moved to the Renaissance of Stillwater, assisted living.

Edith was a homemaker all her married life, helping farm their land, growing a large garden, raising chickens, pigs and running a small dairy. One of her main joys in life was preparing and serving her favorite dishes for family and friends.

She was known for her cooking and canning. When anyone came to visit she always had to feed them, no one ever left her house hungry. Edith enjoyed hosting holidays and family gatherings at her home, the latest being her 98th Birthday celebration in September of this year.

She was a loving, kind, giving person and was the heart of our family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and will be dearly remembered and missed by family and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, on September 1, 1991, her parents, six sisters, Katy Spahr, Maggie Frank, Mary Low, Bertha Thomas, Anna Ferguson, Lillie Babcock Taylor, six brothers, Charley, William, John, Herman, Harry, and a brother who died in infancy.

She is survived by three daughters; Delores Holba and husband Ernest of Yale, Patricia Michaelis of Hays, Kansas, Sharon West and husband Lynn of Stillwater, two sons; Larry Adler and wife Linda of Morrison, Clint Adler and wife Joy of Stillwater. Eight grandchildren; Brenda Brown and husband Steve, Kevin Holba and wife Dianne of all Yale, Len Mize and wife Krista of Arvada, Colorado, Machele Dunagan and husband Greg of Sugarloaf Key, Florida, Monty Adler of Morrison, Kim Burton and husband Brandon of Edmond, Bryan West and wife Heather of Stillwater, Shannon West and wife Reagan McBride-West of Tulsa. Eighteen great-grandchildren; Joshua Brown, Jonathan Brown, Deborah Brown, Victoria Masters and husband Jesse, Amanda Holba, Kaleb Holba, Andy Edens and wife Amy, Alex Mize and wife Angela, Laurel Mize, John Mize, Jared Adler, Jordyn Adler, Olivia Adler, Braxton Burton, Courtlyn Burton, Bo Burton, Samantha West, Taylor West, Four great-great grandchildren; Andrew and Ashlynn Edens, Kyla and Kason Masters, numerous nieces and nephews.

Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Memorials may be made in her name to Judith Karman Hospice, Inc. P.O. Box 818, Stillwater, Oklahoma 74076.
