Renae C. Porter
September 22, 1943 ~ February 11, 2021

Renae was born September 22, 1943 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Joseph Edward Boyd and Weleeta Mae [Roberts] Boyd. She graduated with Salutatorian honors from Lefors, Texas before moving back to Perkins, Oklahoma to be closer to her brother. It was in Perkins that she met Carl West. They returned to the Texas panhandle and had two children, Carl West Jr. And Redena. Renae retired from Moore Business Forms in Stillwater after 32 years before going on to retire from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in Pawnee after nearly 14 years.

Renae’s biggest love was her family and the memories she made with them, evident by the scores of scrapbooks filled with births, vacations, and family reunions. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan and supporter, regardless of what the activity. Like her mother Weleeta, she was a great quilter. She not only made quilts for friends and family, but she also volunteered with Quilts of Valor to give quilts to comfort our Veterans. There are as many quilts made by her as there are people that call her Grandma, and that’s a ton. Renae will most be missed because of her beautiful smile, positive attitude, and genuine compassion.

Renae was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, her mother, Weleeta, her brothers O’dell Boyd and Derl Boyd , her sister Lometa [Boyd] Pennington, and child Michael West. She is survived by her two children, son Carl "Skip" West Jr. of Lone Chimney and daughter Redena [West] Dalton of Pawnee, 7 grandchildren - Brandon, Ashlye, Amy, Chip, Andrea, Hunter, and Adam, 15 great grandchildren, and scores of others kids that knew her simply as "Grandma."

There will be a viewing at Poteet’s Funeral Home on Sunday, February 21st from 1-4p.m. The funeral will be held at the Pawnee First Baptist Church Monday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m.
