Martin Daniel Mahan passed away peacefully at Red Bud Assisted Living Center at the age of 88 on October 22, 2018. A private memorial for immediate family will be held at a later date.

Martin was born at home on October 4, 1930, in South Wichita Township, Lincoln County Oklahoma to the late, Myrtle Willie Allenbaugh Mahan and John Robert Mahan. Martin was the youngest of six children.

He graduated with honors from Stroud High School on May 27, 1949, and married his high school sweethear Pauline Jean Roberts "Polly" on the same day.

After graduation they moved to Arizona where Martin worked as a Signal Maintainer for Southern Pacific Railroad.

Being an avid reader and having a strong desire to learn Martin took a mail-order course to earn his Radio Operators license, which led to his career in communications. With these new qualifications he obtained a position with El Paso Natural Gas as a communications technician maintaining all microwave, multiplex and associated equipment and was selected to install a MATV system in Oran, Algeria.

In 1996 he retired from El Paso Natural Gas after 35 years of service. Additionally, Martin and Polly and Martin's sister Charlcie planted a 30-acre pecan orchard in Marietta, OK and ran a commercial harvesting company.

Martin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Charlcie and Colin Cumming, his sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Darlene Mahan and John and Becky Mahan, his grandchildren, Jamison Mahan, Jennifer Mahan Maraga, Danielle Mahan Miller, Kelen and Korinna Mahan, Jeremy, Mandy and Matthew Cumming, and great grandchildren, Kelsey and Haily Miller, Chloe, Aaron and Nolan Cumming, Alexander, Michael and Morgan Mahan and Sammy and Kathrene Maraga.

Martin is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Polly of 60 years and his brothers Lloyd and Johnny Mahan, sisters, Ruby Mahan Adams, Nadine Mahan Bodkin, and Charlcie Mahan Hefley.

Martin’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Dr. John Williams, the staff at Red Bud Assisted Living and Physician’s Choice Hospice. Their kindness, outstanding care and support have been an inspiration to our family.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Physician’s Choice Hospice, 111 W 1st St, Chandler, OK 74834.
