Doris LeRue [Wright] Clarke
July 15, 1917 ~ January 30, 2018


Doris LeRue Clarke, 100, died on January 30, 2018 at the Redbud Assisted Living Center in Perkins, OK. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the First Christian Church in Perkins, OK. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 with funeral services beginning at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the Perkins Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Doris was born to William Weaver Wright and Ferne Selma Newport on July 15, 1917 in Perkins, OK.

She married Harry Gayle Clarke in May of 1935 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Doris attended Perkins ISD and graduated. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Perkins, OK. She worked for Drs. Freed and Honska as their assistant for 35 years.

Doris was honored by the City of Perkins in 2016 as their "Honored Citizen of the Year", and she rode in the Old Settlers Day parade. At her 100th birthday party, she was presented with a plaque recognizing July 15, 2017 as "Doris Clarke Day" in the City of Perkins.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Philip Craig Clarke and Richard "Dick" [Gayle] Clarke.

Doris is survived by her son, William Howard Clarke and wife Joella Darlene of Paris, TX; grandchildren, Bart Kendall Clarke and wife Lisa of Stillwater, OK., Bret Michael Clarke and wife Katie of Perkins, OK, Jason Paul Clarke and fiancé Carrie of The Colony, TX, William Justin Clarke and wife Rebecca of Dallas, TX; great- grandchildren, Whitnie Craig Barrett and husband Kimroy of Nantuckett, MA, Walker Terrance Clarke of Farmington, AR, William Hunter Clarke of Tampa, FL, William Cason Clarke, Cohen Grace Clarke and Coleman Dodds Clarke of Dallas, TX.; great-great grandchildren, Harrison Tate Barrett and Charlotte Wilder Barrett of Nantuckett, MA.

Pallbearers will include Bart Kendall Clarke, Bret Michael Clarke, Jason Paul Clarke, William Justin Clarke, Terrance Clarke, William Hunter Clarke, William Cason Clarke and Grant Webb.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Red Bud Assisted Living Center in Perkins, OK, 215 W. Freeman 74059 in loving memory of Doris Clarke.
