Raymond Lee "R. L." Benedict
December 25, 1929 ~ January 11, 2013


R.L. was born Dec. 25, 1929 to Edith Ann Benedict and Raymond Lee Benedict, Sr. in Tulsa County between Leonard and Bixby.

His family moved to Perkins, Oklahoma in November 1939. He was a 1947 graduate of Perkins High School and attended Oklahoma A&M College earning a BA in Journalism and Advertising. Through the ROTC program, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. After 22 years of active and reserve duty, he retired at the rank of Major.

He was married to Orvalyn Ynona Ingram on June 6, 1954 and after release from active duty the family moved to Ponca City where R.L. worked for Conoco Inc. for 31 years. He retired from Conoco June 1, 1985 as Director of the Land Department Division Order Section where they determined and maintained Royalty ownership records for all leases from which Conoco produced or purchased oil or gas.

In September 1985, he moved his family back to Perkins to live on and enjoy the new Cimarron Trails Golf Course designed by their son, Kevin.

He is survived by his wife,Ynona, of Midwest City; a son, Kevin, and his wife, Mindy, two grandsons, Ryan and Blake, all of St. Augustine, Florida; a step daughter, Donna Aiken, of Midwest City, and her children, Corey Aiken of Galveston, Texas and Andrea Haynes of Midwest City.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Perkins Senior Citizens Center at 114 Kirk St., Perkins, OK 74059.

Orvalyn Ynona [Ingram] Benedict
September 18, 1923 ~ November 25, 2014


Orvalyn Ynona Benedict, 91, of Midwest City passed away on November 25, 2014. Ynona was born September 18, 1923 to Goldie Ruth Stone and Orval Edward Ingram in Payne County Oklahoma.

She was a graduate of Perkins High School. On June 6, 1954, she married Raymond Lee Benedict and the family moved to Ponca City where R.L. worked for Conoco, Inc.

In the 1970's, Ynona began a distinguished career in the breeding and showing of Fox Terriers and other show dogs across the country while becoming an AKC Licensed Handler. In 1974, she had the top ranked Smooth Fox Terrier in the United States. This led to her second career phase, which saw her become a world renowned artist specializing in sculptures of popular terrier breeds which were produced in porcelain and bronze. Her work was displayed in The White House by Nancy and Ronald Reagan as well as in the home of noted entertainer Roy Clark.

In September of 1985, they moved back to Perkins to live on the new Cimarron Trails Golf Course designed by their son, Kevin. She was a big fan of Oklahoma State University Baseball attending many games over the years. In the early 90's they relocated to St. Augustine, FL to be closer to their grandchildren. They later moved to Midwest City to be closer to their daughter, Donna.

Ynona was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, R.L. after 58 wonderful years of marriage.

She is survived by her son, Kevin and his wife, Mindy; two grandsons, Ryan and Blake, all of St. Augustine, Florida; daughter, Donna Aiken of Midwest City; grandchildren, Corey Aiken of Galveston, Texas and Andrea Haynes of Midwest City; and nephew, Rick Ingram of Oklahoma City.

Orvalyn Ynona Benedict, 91, of Midwest City passed away on November 25, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29th at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater. Interment will follow at Perkins Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
