Elton Clifford Baird
March 22, 1937 ~ February 9, 2011


Elton Clifford Baird, 73, of Perkins, passed away on February 9, 2011 in Stillwater, OK. Services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Imannuel Baptist Church in Perkins with Robin Foster officiating. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.

Elton was born in Glencoe, OK in to George and Viola [Watson] Baird.

He graduated from high school in Eureka,OK. After graduating from high school, Elton Joined the US Militay and he married his first wife Jerry Lou Sharp, who later passed away of Cancer.

Mr. Baird spent the majority of his life working as an appliance repair technician for Sears. In 1991 he married Phyllis "Jackie" Williams.

Elton was know as the "bird man" by his family for his love of watching and owning many birds. He also has owned pet donkeys, ostriches, and many other interesting pets.

Elton was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

After retirement, Elton spent his time as a hobby farmer, volunteer church custodian, playing games, and rebuilding everything he saw fit. He was a simple man who lived within his means. He never wanted for anything and truly was content with his life and lifestyle. Above all else, Elton Baird loved his family and enjoyed spending his free time with them.

He is survived by his wife Jackie, of the home. Two sons: Craige Baird and wife Bonnie, of Ponca City, OK and Brian Baird and wife Robin, of Perkins, OK. A daughter: Teresa Simon and husband Chris, of Perry, OK. Two stepsons: John and Mark Jefek of Pawnee, OK. Two sisters: Ruth, of Cushing OK and Laura, of Washington. A brother: Don of Spokane, WA. Eleven grandchildren: Sabrie, Ashley, Bradey, Samuel, Avonlea, Josiah, Seth, Jacob, Connor, Nicole, and Cady.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, his first wife Jerry Lou Baird. 4 Brothers: Bob, Reeder, Nate, and June. One sister: Margie.
