Jeannette Marie [Dye] Sexton
July 31, 1935 ~ July 26, 2020

Jeannette Marie [Dye] Sexton, 84, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was born July 31, 1935 to Everett and Genta Dye, in Guthrie Okla. She passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 in Oklahoma City.

She married Bobby Sexton, Sr on March 4, 1955. They moved to the OKC area where they started their family. She has two children, Janet Sexton Sharpe of the home and Bobby Sexton Jr. of Dalhart, Texas.

Most knew her as Granny. She enjoyed helping at the schools while her kids were in school, and went above and beyond helping when her grandkids were in school.

Granny loved to cook and have large groups around the table. She took great pride in making Christmas candy to share with family and friends. She loved working in her flower beds and yard. She looked forward to our yearly girls/family shopping trips to Texas every November. She walked 3 to 4 miles 5 days a week with her walking buddies until she got sick.

Granny is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Bobby Sexton, Sr., her parents Everette and Genta Dye, and two sisters Kay Tripplett and Thelma Minnich.

She is survived by her daughter Janet of the home; son Bobby of Dalhart, Texas; her grandchildren: Kyle and Morgan Sexton of Mustang, Oklahoma, Alisha and Jeff Bland of Moore, Oklahoma, Kerri and Kyle Campbell of Moore, Oklahoma and Johna and Ricky Hembree of Rockwall, Texas; great grandchildren: Ryan and Aubrie Hembree of Rockwall, Texas, Allie Campbell of Moore, Oklahoma, Aimee and Abbiegh Bland, of Moore, Oklahoma, and Mollee Hartman of Mustang, Oklahoma; her brothers JL Dye of Crescent, Oklahoma and Everett Lee Dye of San Diego, California; and one sister Velma Hurst of Guthrie. She is also survived by many loving sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and other family members. Also surviving her are lots of friends and her OMRF family.

The family would like to thank Integris Hospice House; Integris Home Hospice, Integris Home Health Care; Dr. Hussain/Hasson and Dr. Bavsar and staff at Integris Cancer Center; the staff on the ninth floor of Integris Hospital; Dr. Timothy Vavrika and his staff; Dr. Blake Christenson and his staff; Dr. Masca and his staff and Mimsy; and Dr. Cheng and her staff.

Janet would like to say a very special thank you to Team Granny, the small Army as granny called it, that helped get her to doctors and radiation appointments. These people took the worry about getting to appointments away so she could focus on her fight.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Paradise Cemetery in Coyle, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. The funeral procession will leave Smith-Gallo Funeral Home at 9:25 A.M. the morning of the service for those wishing to travel together to the graveside service.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 3:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to OMRF to support cancer research. Donations may be mailed to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104-5097.
