Connie Sue Smith
June 6, 1945 ~ July 11, 2021


Connie Sue Simnitt Smith passed from this life Sunday July 11, 2021. Connie was born at Yale, Ok on June 6, 1945 to Marie [Wright] Simnitt and Clarence Simnitt.

She lived at Quay, OK most of her youth, attending school at Quay Public Schools. She later moved with her mother to the Pawnee area where she attended school at Pawnee Public Schools.

There she met and married George Smith on June 11, 1962. They made their home in the Pawnee area and had two children, Mike and Mark Smith.

Connie worked at the Pawnee Library for a year before she started working at the Pawnee Hospital as a nurse’s aide and later a ward clerk. She also cared for several people in their homes over the years. In 1989 she started working at the Perry Memorial Hospital where she retired from in 2014 after working there for 25 years.

Connie was an avid reader of authors such as Dean Koontz and loved watching the sci-fi channel.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Clara Smith, brothers Jerry Simnitt, Keith Simnitt and Danny Eliott.

She is survived by her sons Mike and wife Teresa and Mark all of Pawnee, 2 grandchildren Justin and wife Megan Smith of Glencoe and Casey and husband JD Steele of Pawnee and one great-grandson Ryder Steele.

There will be a viewing at Poteet’s Funeral Home on Thursday July 15. The funeral will be graveside at Lawson Cemetery at Yale Friday July 16 at 2:00 p.m.
