Shawna Renee Schmidt Born: December 17, 1975 Died: April 25, 2013

Shawna grew up in Stillwater. She attended school in Stillwater and Ponca City. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday on at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Shawna married Scott Russell Schmidt on Aug. 6, 2006. Shawna and Scott were blessed with a son, Hayden Scott Schmidt on March 31, 2007.

Shawna, Scott and Hayden lived in El Reno, where she spent most of her days with her son Hayden, be it watching Thomas the Train or teaching him his numbers and letters. Shawna enjoyed music, reading and cooking for people. She was known to have been very loving, creative, tender hearted, funny and being a great storyteller. Shawna was also known to be an animal lover. It was very rare throughout Shawna's life that she didn't have a pet of some sort — be it a dog, cat, fish or gerbil. Who knew what she would bring home. Shawna had a very unique view on life. What most people would consider taboo, Shawna would consider it cool or downright funny.

Shawna was a gift to all of her family and she will never know how much her being here touched so many people.

Survivors include her husband, Scott Schmidt, and son, Hayden Schmidt. She is also survived by Michelle Hill, Alisha Cobb, Alysa Seales, Chris Cobb, Johnnie Devine Jr., Kelly Devine, Terry Langley, Rick Langley and many, many more.

Preceded in death by her mother, Lenora Jane Swisher Seales; father, Jasper William Ventris; sisters, Susan Elizabeth Cobb and Katherine Irene Flores.

"Don't cry when the sun is gone because the tears won't let you see the stars." Violeta Parra

Shawna, your ray of light has fallen on so many that your memory will never burn out. I love you for all you are, always. Your sister, Michelle.

Donations may be made in her name to Wings of Hope at 3800 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075
