Barnadine Joy [Hixon] Argo
January 20, 1934 ~ April 9, 2012


Funeral services for Joy Argo, of Norman will begin at 10:00 am Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St. of Norman, with Pastor Jim Gann officiating. The family will greet friends from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Bernadine Joy [Hixon] Argo returned to her heavenly father on Monday April 9, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma following a brief illness. Joy was born January 20, 1934 near Cushing, Oklahoma to Elmer Ray and Lena Catherine [Adams] Hixon, one of eleven siblings. Joy was married to Kenneth H. Argo, in Cushing, Oklahoma on July 5, 1953, moving to McAlester, Oklahoma in June 1962, where they resided until April 2008, when they moved to Norman, Oklahoma.

Joy is survived by her husband, Kenneth of the home, two sons, David Argo and wife Brenda of Norman, Oklahoma, Dr. Mark Argo of Owasso, Oklahoma and three grandsons, Barrett Argo and wife Terra of Moore, Oklahoma, Andy Ferguson and wife Kelly of Arlington, Virginia and Jay Ferguson and wife Aubrey of Goldsby, Oklahoma. Also, sisters, Anita White, Wilma Bevins and husband, Frankie, brothers Kenneth Hixon with wife, Marge, Jerry Hixon with wife, Nancy, brother-in-law Jim Boling and brother-in-law Leon Argo with wife, Fern and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Elmer Hixon, three brothers Dennis Hixon and wife Virginia, Harold Hixon and wife Roma, Dale Hixon and wife Maxine. Also, three sisters, Dorothy Isbell and husband Lloyd, Jewel Goff and husband Raymond, Jr, Carol Boling and a brother-in-law Homer Kleckner. Also, six nephews Jimmie, Donavan, Darrell Eugene and Eric Hixon, and Gerald and Dennis Isbell and one niece Kathy Argo.

Joy was an extremely warm, kind, fun-loving person who loved God, traveling to gospel music concerts with her husband Ken, being involved in her church throughout her life, being outdoors, gardening, and birdwatching. She was devoted to friends but mostly loved being with her family whenever possible.

Memorials may be made in memory of Joy to Faith Pointe Baptist Church, 3404 36th Ave NW, Norman 73072.

Graveside services will begin at 3:00 pm Thursay, April 12, 2012 in the Harrell Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma. Arrangements for Joy and her family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Online condolences may be shared at www.havenbrookfuneralhome.com.
