John Oscar Arnold
April 28, 1851 ~ March 10, 1909

Death Of John O. Arnold

Died, John O. Arnold at his late residence two miles south and five east of Cushing, on Wednesday, March 10th 1900, aged 57 years, 10 months and 12 days.

The deceased was born in Henry CO, IL April 28, 1851.

In 1870 he moved to Nebraska, where four years later, on the 20 day of December he was married to Miss Theodocia Armstrong. Of this union eight children were born, six of whom survive their father, all being residents of this vicinity as follows: Mrs Nettie Wiswell, Mrs Ella Collins, Mrs Della Cargill, Jas E., Oscar and Elias Arnold.

Mr Arnold moved his family to Oklahoma and this vicinity in 1893 and consequently was one of our pioneer settlers. He had a very large acquaintance and was highly esteemed by many friends.

For the past six years he had occupied the responsible position of Indian farmer and performed his duties in a creditable manner.

He was a member of the Masonic fraternity having only the first of the year taken the Consistory degrees. He was also affiliated with the Woodman of the World.

The immediate cause of Mr Arnold's death was a heart aflection and though he had not been feeling well for several weeks, he was in Cushing on last Saturday and went about his farm on Sunday.

he came to realize, however, sometime before his death that he was going and calmly set about "placing his house in order."

All that medical skill and solicitous and loving hands could do could not stay the work of the grim reaper.

He was conscious in his last moments and the end came quietly and peacefully. The sincere sympathy of the entire commun ity is extended to the grief stricken wife and children ans sorrowing relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 12 o'clock Friday, March 12th with Union Lodge No 277, A.F. & A.M. of which he was a member, in charge. Sermon by Elder S. W. Fuson.

Interment at the Harrell cemetery.
