Fredrick Ted Matlock
March 7, 1937 ~ January 26, 2020


Ted completed his journey on January 26, 2020, peacefully surrounded by his wife and family. He was 82 years strong.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9am to 5pm and on Friday from 9am to 8pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at the Glencoe Church of Christ, where Ted and Donna were baptized and married, at 10 AM Saturday, February 1, 2020. Interment will follow at Glencoe South Cemetery.

Frederick Ted Matlock began his journey on March 7, 1937, son of Melvin Eugene Matlock and Mildred Marie [Cannon] Matlock. Ted was born and raised in Glencoe, Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school in 1954.

He entered the US Navy immediately upon graduation, serving aboard the USS Boxer CVA in Korea and throughout the South Pacific.

He returned home to marry Donna Lea [Shell] Matlock on April 27, 1958.

Ted was an aerospace tool and die maker, helping build aircraft and spacecraft, contributing to the Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs. He was proud to see his handiwork land on the moon on July 20, 1969.

Ted is survived by his wife Donna of the home, three children, Monty Matlock of Stillwater and his wife Tammy [Ragsdale] Matlock, Marty Matlock of Fayetteville AR and his wife Stephenie Foster, and Teddie [Matlock] Harmon of Tulsa and her husband, David Harmon. Ted and Donna celebrated their family, including fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ted was preceded in death by his father and mother, his sisters Carol Moore, Willene Robinson, Nancy Hancock, and Jo Ann McLaughlin Hopper, his step-father James McLaughlin, and his granddaughter Brianna Matlock.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9am to 5pm and Friday from 9am to 8pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 10:00am at the Church of Christ in Glencoe, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Glencoe South Cemetery in Glencoe, Oklahoma.
