Hodges, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019. He was 89 years old. Robert was born on April 18, 1929 in Glencoe, Oklahoma to his parents, Jesse S. Hodges and Mabel M. [DeWitt] Hodges. After serving his country in the United States Army, he worked as a dozer operator. Robert was a loyal, honest, and caring man. Faith was important in his life as he was a devoted member of the Free Will Baptist Church for many years. Robert was loving and gentle to those he loved the most, his family. He also enjoyed gardening. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wayne Hodges and Dennis Hodges. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hodges of Ponca City, his children, Robert Wayne Hodges of Fairfax, Glenda Kay Brown of Fairfax, Joanna Lynn Mercer of Pawhuska, and Perry Don Shipman of Ozark, Missouri, sister, Nola Ellington of Glencoe, Oklahoma as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral ceremony for Robert will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Freewill Baptist Church in Ponca City. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest at Glencoe Cemetery in Glencoe, Oklahoma. Robert will be available for viewing at the church, both before and after the ceremony on Thursday. Casketbearers will be: Bobby Calhoun, Gary Deppershmidt, Danny Osborn, Darrel Robertson, Caleb O'Meilia, and Scott Brown. Memorial donations may be made to Free Will Baptist Church, 1900 E. Hubbard Road, Ponca City, OK 74604. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory. |
