Delberta Maxine Childers
October 4, 1921 - March 1, 2018


Delberta Maxine Childers, 96, passed from this life on March 1, 2018 in Glencoe, OK. A visitation will be held at Strode Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00am on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Glencoe Church of Christ in Glencoe, OK. Curt Anderson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Glencoe South Cemetery.

Maxine was born on October 4, 1921 to Delbert S. and Letha M. Will in Glencoe, OK. She married Bill Childers on March 23, 1944 in Keystone, OK. He passed from this life on April 23, 2006.

Maxine graduated from Glencoe High School and went on to get her teaching degree from Oklahoma A&M College. She was a High School business teacher for 23 years and a member of the Glencoe Church of Christ. She was a part of the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association. Maxine was known as Mema to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she enjoyed them immensely.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; husband and three siblings.

She is survived by five daughters, Margie [Bobby] Garringer of Coyle, OK, Billie [J.D. Deceased] Elwood of Morrison, OK, Christy [Larry] Shell of Glencoe, OK, Linda [Terry] Watson of Oklahoma City, OK, Marilyn [Rick] Sullivan of Tulsa, OK; 19 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephew and one sister -in- law.

Honorary pallbearers will be Schelle [Garringer] Cooley, Jeremy Garringer, J.D. Edward Jr, Cody Elwood, and Cary shell, Gina Killough, Chris Watson, Josh Watson, Ryan Sullivan and Meagan [Sullivan] Pierce.

Memorial contributions may be made to Glencoe Church of Christ Building Fund and Karmen Legacy Hospice.
