Charles Arthur "Chuck" Baker
January 16, 1939 ~ January 21, 2021


Charles “Chuck” Arthur Baker, 82, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away in his home at Legacy Village on Thursday, January 21, 2021.

Charles was born on January 16, 1939, to Leon and Dora [Childs] Baker in Douglas, Oklahoma. At age 12 Charles suffered a severe illness and survived pioneering lung surgery. After graduating from Douglas High School in 1957, he went on to study accounting at Oklahoma State University.

After graduation, he landed his first job as a manager in Roswell, New Mexico but soon returned to Stillwater and become the payroll director for Oklahoma State University. While working there he met the love of his life Sharon and they wed in May of 1966, going on to adopt two children Kristen and Bradley.

Charles worked hard to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of all his children and grandchildren.

Throughout most of his life, Charles was passionate about donating his time to church, choir, Lions Club, and Town and Gown Theatre. A loyal OSU Cowboys fan through and through, Charles could be found at almost every home basketball and football game for more than 60 years. In recent years he joined the Stillwater Community Singers and enjoyed weekly practices and participated in several concerts.

Charles was predeceased by his wife, Sharon, his parents, and sister Dorothy.

He is survived by two children Kristen Hadley and husband, Rick of Stillwater, OK, and Brad Baker and his wife, Jennifer of Corpus Christy, TX; a niece, Robin Hadley of Enid, OK, nephew David Hadley and wife, Caitlyn of Enid, OK, five grandchildren, Samantha, Brittany, Garrett, Abby, and Kylee, and many other dear family and friends.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 25, 2021, at First United Methodist Church in Stillwater, OK under the direction of the Strode Funeral Home with Rev. Kyle Anderson officiating. Interment will be at the FUMC Columbarium and Memorial Garden in Stillwater, OK. Sharon Lee Cooke Baker
May 11, 1944 ~ August 5, 2014


Sharon Lee Baker, 70, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away in her home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Stillwater, OK under the direction of the Strode Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Chaffin and Rev. Kyle Anderson officiating. Interment will be at the FUMC Columbarium and Memorial Garden in Stillwater, OK.

Born May 11, 1944 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late C.E. [Chief] Cooke and Vivian "Aleen" Barton Cooke.

Sharon was a lifelong resident of Stillwater. She graduated from C.E. Donart High School in 1962 and attended the Oklahoma School of Banking and Business where she received her diploma.

Sharon was employed by Oklahoma State University and Stillwater National Bank. After returning to OSU she retired on May 31, 2000.

Sharon found joy by being a charter member of the Cimarron Business Women and member of the Oklahoma Federation of Business Women where she held several offices and won many awards including Mentor of the Year. Her proudest moment was when she was elected as the 2013-2014 State President where she happily served despite her diagnosis and treatments for pancreatic cancer. Sharon was also a member of the 20th Century Club and the Fairlawn Cemetery Preservation Society.

Sharon participated in a trial research study at OU Medical Stephenson Cancer Center with hopefulness that she contributed to a future cure for this terrible disease. Sharon had many hobbies over the years including cake decorating, sewing and painting and she enjoyed volunteering for several organizations. Sharon's greatest joy was her family and especially her beloved grandchildren. She was a very kind, caring and compassionate person and will be greatly missed by many dear friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles Arthur Baker; two children Kristen Hadley and husband, Rick of Stillwater, OK, and Brad Baker and his wife, Jennifer of Tulsa, OK; a sister, Judy Ricks [Bruce] of Sapulpa, OK; two brothers, Jim Cooke [Pat] of Sapulpa, OK and Bill Cooke [Wanda] of Stillwater, OK and five grandchildren, Samantha, Brittany, Garrett, Abby, and Kylee.
