Opal [Brookshire] Uptegraft

Mrs. Opal Uptegraft, lifelong resident of Cushing, passed away on Friday evening, March 30, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 95 years.

The daughter of the late Thomas Brookshire and Lula Baer Brookshire, Opal was born on February 7, 1912 in Cushing and was reared and educated here.

She was united in marriage to Dale Uptegraft on December 30, 1942, in Cushing and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1969.

Opal had worked for Dr. Bassett for many years prior to working for Midland Coop, retiring following over 30 years of employment with them.

Opal will be remembered for the loving care she gave her parents and her sister, Glendean Mercer.

She was gracious and generous in her kindness and love to all. She was a truly lovely lady.

Opal was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nine siblings, Glendean Mercer, Dolores Massie, Ralph Brookshire, Tommy Brookshire, Cecil Brookshire, Bill Brookshire, John Brookshire, Carst Brookshire and John Brookshire.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 1 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ted Uhlig, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
