Stella Mae Evans, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 76 years.

The daughter of the late James Henry Hooper and Blanche Hattie Shoemaker Hooper, Stella was born on July 24, 1929 in Cushing, OK and was reared and educated here, graduating from Cushing High School.

She was married to Richard A. Evans on June 10, 1950, here in Cushing and to this union four children, Rick, Mark, Julie and Mick were born. Mr. Evans preceded her in death on March 24, 1989.

Stella had worked at the Cushing Library and later for the Cushing Regional Hospital prior to retirement.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church; she had served as a Den Mother while her children were growing up and she was a very devoted Grandmother to her grandkids, enjoying all of their activities. She loved watching baseball and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Rick Evans and his wife Virginia of Enid, Julie Kennedy and her husband Mike of Cushing and Mick Evans and his wife Suzie of Cushing; one daughter-in-law, Clelly Evans of Cushing; 16 grandchildren, Jessica Turetken, Phillip Evans, Sommer Evans, Jayson Evans, Jana Taylor, Sarah Pyles, Jared Kennedy, Ryan Kennedy, Emily Kennedy, Justin Kennedy, Elizabeth Kennedy, Evan Kennedy, Randy Evans, Brieanne Evans, Tyler Evans and Garrett Evans; 7 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son Reverend Mark Evans.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. in the First Assembly of God Church with Reverend Robert Adams, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
