Jerry Ray Doty

Jerry Ray Doty, 80, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at his home in Stillwater. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 9am to 8pm. Graveside service will be Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:30 am at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born February 9, 1940 in Connerville, Oklahoma. He was adopted by V.A. and Achsa Doty and grew up in Stillwater where he graduated from Stillwater High School in 1959.

After high school, he attended OSU and then joined the Navy. In 1965, Jerry began his career in real estate and insurance. He had a long successful career and remained in that business until his retirement.

He married Judy K. Edmondson on October 4, 1980 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Stillwater.

Jerry took great joy in a day spent with his family. His 9 grandchildren were his priority and he referred to them as his biggest blessing. Jerry enjoyed a hot cup of coffee and watching anything with OSU sports. He loved and cared about his church home, Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he was the last living charter member. Jerry made many good friends throughout the years. He could always be found at the church door greeting everyone that walked in.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Jerry is survived by his wife Judy, his 4 children; Michelle Gummere and husband Chris, Scott Doty and wife Sharlie, Shaun Doty and wife Natalie, Steve Martin and wife Brooke. His 9 grandchildren; Davin, Jacey and Calan Gummere, Scotlynn Doty and Gavyn Harris, Dante and Brick Doty, Montana and Georgia Belle Martin.
