William Marion Perry
September 23, 1916 ~ June 23, 2007


William Marion Perry, longtime Oak Grove resident, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2007 in the Drumright Nursing Home at the age of 90 years.

The son of the late Ernest G. Perry and Mildred Jane Crouch Perry, Bill was born on September 23, 1916 in Mayes County, OK.

He was raised in Pryor, graduating from Pryor High School in 1935.

Bill served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII.

He was united in marriage to Opal M. Sorrels on September 5, 1948 on the farm in Oak Grove. To this union three children, Blake, Susan and Bruce were born.

Bill served as a deacon for many years at Nogales Ave. Baptist Church in Tulsa.

Upon retirement from American Airlines after 32 years, he and Opal moved to Oak Grove.

Bill was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He enjoyed reading and loved to watch OU football.

Survivors include his wife of almost sixty years, Opal of Drumright; two sons, Blake Perry of Oklahoma City, OK and Bruce Perry of Long Beach, CA; one daughter, Susan Perry of Santa Clarita, CA; one sister-in-law, Eva Perry; one brother-in-law, Floyd E. Sorrels, Jr.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Murray officiating.

Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park.

Opal Marie [Sorrels] Perry
November 1, 1920 ~ March 22, 2008


Opal Marie Perry, longtime Oak Grove area resident, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 87 years.

The daughter of the late Floyd E. Sorrels, Sr., and Della Cargill Sorrels, Opal was born on November 1, 1920 in Cushing, OK and was reared and educated in the Oak Grove and Drumright schools. She later attended and graduated from Secretarial college.

She was united in marriage to William Marion Perry on September 5, 1948, on the Sorrels' farm in Oak Grove, and to this union three children, Blake, Susan and Bruce were born.

Opal worked as an executive secretary for several petroleum companies in Tulsa for much of her adult life, and she was highly valued for her skill and work ethic. In the 1960's, she was hired as executive secretary to Dan Schusterman during the formation of Samson Resources, and retired from that position in the 1980's.

She managed to work full time, be a great wife and raise three children.

Opal was a long-time member of Nogales Avenue Baptist Church in Tulsa where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.

After retirement, Opal became a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and she really enjoyed being a part of her Sunday School Class and helping out with Vacation Bible School.

She liked traveling, especially to the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado, sewing, reading, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

She was a loving and nurturing wife and mother, and she is powerfully missed by her kids. Survivors include her children, Blake Perry of Oklahoma City, Bruce Perry of Long Beach, CA, and one daughter Susan Perry of Santa Clarita, CA; one brother Floyd E. Sorrels of Drumright; cousin Janice Winkler, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Perry on June 23, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 2 P.M. in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Murray, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
