Corey G. "Corky" Goff
September 28, 1922 ~ June 28, 2015


Corey G. Goff, known to his friends and family as “Corky”, passed away early Sunday morning, June 28, 2015, at his home, at the age of 92.

He was born on September 28, 1922 in Soonerville, Oklahoma to Frank Lee and Martha Davis Goff.

When still a young man, Corky answered the call to serve his country during World War II and joined the Army, departing the U.S. through San Francisco, and serving as a Sergeant in the 164th Infantry Regiment of the American Division U.S. Army, Southwest Pacific Arena. American Division, of the United States Army was the only division formed outside of United States Territory during World War II. Sgt. Goff saw combat on the islands of Bougainville, Leyte, Negros and New Caledonia, as well as in Cebu and landing on main land Japan the day after the surrender of that country during World War II. During his service in the military he was awarded both the Bronze Star, which is awarded for acts of heroism, merit, or meritorious service in a combat zone, and the Purple Heart, awarded in the name of the President to those wounded [or killed] while serving, on or after April 5, 1917, with the U.S. Military.

Upon returning home through Seattle, Washington, Corky returned to the Cushing area and worked for Department of Agriculture as, first, an inspector and then as supervisor; as superintendent of the Cushing Packing Company; part owner of a local car dealership; purse winning quarter horse owner at one time and retired as the purchasing officer for Payne County, District I.

Corky was known to some as the “Tract Man”, as he would go to the nursing homes in Cushing to share bubble gum and the word of God.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, his mother and father; wife of one year Opal and Helen, wife of 60 years.

He leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and his caretaker for some years, Virginia Weatherington.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Park Place Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.

Helen [Pemberton] Goff
November 23, 1934 ~ January 19, 2010


Helen Goff, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years.

The daughter of the late Fred Pemberton and Lucinda Despain Pemberton, Helen was born on November 23, 1934 in Laverne, OK.

She came to Cushing as a teenager and was educated in the Cushing schools.

She was married to C.G. Goff on July 3, 1950 in Cushing and the couple has resided in this area since that time.

Helen was a member of the Park Place Baptist Church.

She enjoyed animals and was an avid wolf lover, collecting all kinds of wolves.

Survivors include her husband of over 59 years, Corky of the home; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 22, at 2 P.M. in the Park Place Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Brown, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
