Jacob Henry "Jake" Amberg III DDS
March 24, 1928 ~ September 24, 2020


Jacob Henry Amberg III, known by those close to him as "Jake", was born on March 24, 1928, in Oklahoma City to the late Jacob Henry Amberg II and Courtney [Herpin] Amberg.

He grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Central High School. After high school, Jake joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service during WWII.

He married Anna Beth Weaver, and to this union Jacob H. “Jack” and Cathy were born.

He attended OCU where he studied pre-dental, and later graduated from the University of Missouri in Kansas City as a dentist. He owned JH Amberg DDS in Oklahoma City until his retirement.

In 1971, Jake married Claudine M. “Dean” Myers. They lived in Oklahoma City for a few years, moving to Grand Isle, LA, for thirteen years, then to Cushing in 1998 to be near family.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed gardening and playing Bridge. Jake loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the highlights of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his friend, Hazel Cusac, for the past five years.

Jake passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, with his family by his side.

Jake is survived by his son Jacob “Jack” Henry Amberg IV and wife Jennifer of Yukon, daughter Cathy Reinecke of Cushing, grandchildren Jill Clark and husband Ryan of Pflugerville, TX., Brad Reinecke and wife Amber of Cushing, Jeff Reinecke of Oklahoma City, great grandchildren Haley, Chloe, Kate and Jackson, and his friend Hazel.

He was preceded in death by his wife Claudine M. “Dean” Amberg and son-in-law David Reinecke.

Private graveside services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jacob’s name to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the First United Methodist Church in Cushing.

Claudine M. "Dean" [Myers] Amberg
May 29, 1929 ~ May 26, 2007


Claudine M. "Dean" [Myers] Amberg was born May 29, 1929 in Crescent, Oklahoma to Claude W. and Minnie [Hamlin] Myers.

Dean grew up in Crescent, graduating from Crescent High School in 1947. Dean attended Central State University in Edmond, receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten for many years at the Lake Park Elementary school in Oklahoma City, retiring in 1973.

Dean married Jacob Henry "Jake" Amberg on April 23, 1971 in Gainesville, TX. They lived in OKC for a few years, moving to Grand Isle, LA for thirteen years, then to Cushing in 1998 to be near family.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Dean liked taking care of her flower garden. She enjoyed cooking for her family and traveling. Dean was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Dean passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2007 in Cushing.

Dean is survived by her loving husband Jacob Amberg; son Jack Amberg and wife Jennifer; daughters Jan Elizabeth Mitchell and husband Georg, Cathy Reinecke and husband David; sisters Verna Swaim, Margaret Lovelace; grandchildren Jill, Brad and Jeff Reinecke, Asa and Ty Mitchell.

Dean was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cula Short and nephew Scott Short Jr, who was like a brother.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Cushing. Rev. Ted Uhlig will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Cushing, OK.
