May 18, 1930 ~ November 30, 2017

Bertha "Bert" May [Hesser] Rushmore, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed from this life on November 30, 2017, at Stillwater Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Graveside service will be at Elm Grove Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. with memorial service following at Lost Creek United Methodist Church on Monday, December 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Max Rudd officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm with family greeting guest from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Dighton-Martin Funeral Home. Bert, born on May 18, 1930, in Stillwater to Ted and Bertha Hesser, grew up in the Glencoe area and attended school at Eureka Grade School. Then she moved with her parents to California and graduated from San Diego High School in 1948.

After graduation, the family moved back to Oklahoma where Bert worked for Murphy's in Stillwater. A young man named Charles Denman Rushmore came courting, and after only thirteen dates, they eloped to Arkansas where she married the love of her life, on November 4, 1949. They were married sixty-six years. Two daughters, Cathey and Pam, completed the happy family.

Bert believed her primary task was taking care of her husband and daughters. She loved cooking and putting up the garden produce that she and Charles raised. In addition, she worked side by side with Charles at the Perkins Livestock Auction; Bert belonged to the Lost Creek United Methodist Church and faithfully provided her homemade goodies for the bazaars and auctions held there.

Bert is preceded in death by her parents Ted and Bertha Hesser, husband Charles, and brothers Chris and John Wesley Hesser, and sisters Caroline Keller and Nadine Barnes.

She is survived by her daughters Cathey Wollenberg and Pam Allen and her husband David; grandchildren: Kim Wollenberg, Jason Wollenberg, and Michelle and her husband Stoney Matheson. Bert is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
