Robert Lee "Bob" Heister Sr
March 23, 1929 ~ January 3, 2018

Robert "Bob" Heister Sr., 88, passed from this life on January 3, 2018 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. The Reverend Larry Eslinger will officiate. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Bob was born on March 23, 1929 to Meredith "Mert" Heister and Ora Ellen Emerson Heister in Perkins, Oklahoma. He attended school in Perkins and graduated in 1947. After graduation, he moved to Sand Springs where he met the love of his life, Susie Mae Campbell, at the restaurant where she worked... the rest is history. They were united in marriage on December 24, 1949 and relocated to Stillwater, where they would make their home for the rest of their lives with their two sons, Bob Jr. and Ray.

Bob worked swing shift at the OSU Power Plant so he could pursue his true passion, which was farming and raising cattle. He bought his first farm in 1954. In 1960, he quit the power plant and became an oil pumper and partnered with J.H. Arrington, where they formed Arrington and Heister Cattle Company. In the early 1960's, he joined the Payne County Sheriffs Reserve and proudly served the county for 50 years. After Bob retired he spent his time gardening with great friends and neighbors, attended all activities for the grandkids and enjoyed helping anyone he could with whatever they needed. He was truly one of a kind.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Susie; one son, Ray Gene; one daughter in law, Barbara; three sisters, Hazel Baker, Mildred Phillips and Ellen Ballinger; one brother, Ray; and both parents.

He is survived by his son, Robert Heister Jr. and his girlfriend, Patricia Debow, of Stillwater; one daughter in law, Shelley Sawatzky and husband Fred, of Stillwater; three grandchildren, Zachary Heister of Stillwater; Brandon Heister and wife Emily of Perry, OK; Mandy Blocker and husband Todd of Eufaula, OK; five great-grandchildren, Korben, Karson and soon to be Kamber Heister and Britt and Blair Blocker; two brothers, Ed and Bill, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
