Jeanita Mae [Harris] Hover
September 17, 1944 ~ February 19, 2020


Mrs. Jeanita Mae Hover, age 75, of Stillwater, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family Wednesday morning, February 19, 2020, at her residence. She fought a hard battle for 16 months against cancer. She did everything she could to be with her family for as long as she was able.

She was born on September 17, 1944, in Stillwater Oklahoma, a daughter of William Earl Harris and Iva Mae Harris and an identical twin to Juanita Ray Kearns.

Jeanita was preceded in death by her three sons, Lonnie Hover, Ronnie Hover, and David Hover; four sisters, Edna Mae Harris, Maxine Harris, Earlene Parks, and Rosemary Ritter; one brother, James Harris.

She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education then went on to get her Master’s with a focus in Reading in 1981. She also had additional endorsements: Elementary Principal, Secondary Principal, and Superintendent.

Jeanita Mae was a teacher for a total of 29 years. She taught at Carney Public Schools, Pleasant View School, Stillwater Middle School, and Skyline Elementary. She retired in 2008 from Skyline with her husband of 56 years, Ted Hover. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. Jeanita loved fiercely. She was a wonderful mother, a grandmother, and great grandmother.

Jeanita Mae is survived by her husband Ted (Butch) Hover; sons, Theodore Hover III [wife Cheryl Hover] and Daniel Hover [wife Rhonda Hover]; Daughters, Jamie Johnson [husband Rob Johnson] and Julia Hover [wife Minerba Cerda]; grandchildren, Chris Cowan, Ryan Cowan, Trevor Johnson, Emily Dornan [husband Matthew], Kasey Thompson [husband Tyler], Linda Mae Dugay [husband Kevin], Shelby Hover, Laney Hover, John Stone, Rachel Stone, Maegan Newport [husband Brice], Jesse Hover, and Ivy Hover; great-grandchildren, Sage Dornan, Mattie Dornan, Gracie Mae Dornan, Avery Dornan, Ben Newport, Maddie Newport, and Weston Lyle Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 9am to 8pm with family greeting guests from 5-7pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2020 at Dighton Marler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darrel Bo Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Glencoe, Oklahoma.
