Vernon Leroy Proctor passed from this life on January 16, 2026, at the age of 84 in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Vernon was born on December 20, 1941, in Lamar, Oklahoma. He was the son of Marvin and Mary (Camp) Proctor. Vernon grew up and attended Moss School near Lamar before moving with his parents to Augusta, Kansas. Following his education, Vernon began working at a local lumber company. Vernon was united in marriage to Patricia Gray on October 15, 1962, in Howard, Kansas. The couple established their initial home near Augusta. While in Augusta, Vernon started working at Metal Fab as the foreman. In 1972, Vernon moved his family to Osage, Oklahoma, where he began working as a carpenter alongside his father. In 1985, Vernon opened Proctor's Used Cars, North of Cleveland. Vernon operated the dealership until 2002, when he closed the operation.
Vernon and Patricia always enjoyed traveling and would go to garage sales weekly. Vernon liked doing karaoke and visiting the casinos.
Survivors are Patricia of the home; three children, Danny Proctor and wife Cindy, Les Proctor and wife Janette, Kathy Charlton and husband Mike; siblings Ruby Dilday, Shirley Bramwell, Alvin Proctor and his wife Judy, Glenda Baugher and her husband Al; eight grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mary Proctor, two siblings, Bobby Proctor and Wilma Conner, and his granddaughter-in-law, Jeanine Proctor.
Services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Cleveland Church of the Nazarene . The burial will be held at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
