Kimberly Jo Barnes Goodman

Kimberly Jo Goodman went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of fifty-two. Kimberly was born on July 21, 1959 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Elmer and Priscilla ìJoyî (Redman) Barnes.

Kimberly was raised and attended school in Sand Springs; graduating from Charles Page High School with the class of 1977. While attending high school, Kimberly went on a double blind date where she met Wendell Goodman. After nearly a year of going together, the couple was united in marriage on June 4, 1977 at the Tanglewood Baptist Church. The couple made their initial home in Prue, Oklahoma and they continued to reside there even after rebuilding following the tornado in 1984 until 2003 when they moved to be nearer her family in the rural Sand Springs area and assist in the care of her mother.

While residing in Prue, Kim made many friends and was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized.

After the birth of her children, Kim remained home for a few years to assist in their daily development and provide a stable environment for their early years. In 1990, Kim accepted a position as a secretary for the Prue Public School System and remained in that capacity for nearly eight years. She applied and was accepted for an aviation mechanic position with American Airlines in 1998 and worked as an Overhaul Shop Mechanic (OSM) until 2003. She then returned to Nordam for a few years before being recalled to American Airlines in March of 2011 and has remained there until the time of her passing. Kimberly was described by her family as a loving and caring individual that enjoyed life and exhibited a unique ability to touch the lives of everyone around in a special way; even those who were reluctant initially to relate with anyone. Wendell and Kim participated in many Toy Runs and Cancer Charity Rides on their motorcycle together. She loved all types of crafts and especially enjoyed crocheting. She was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan but her favorite pastime, however, was eating; she simply loved to eat and enjoy food. She also enjoyed traveling and participated with her family in many vacations together, including trips to California, Utah, Montana, Nevada and most recently to Aruba. Kimberly loved her family and was most happy when spending time with them and enjoying their company.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-five years, Wendell of the home; a daughter and her husband, Candi and Greg Baldridge of Prue, Oklahoma; a son, Zack Goodman of Prue, Oklahoma; grandson, Blaine Garrett Baldridge of Prue, Oklahoma; her father, and his wife, Elmer and Bonnie Barnes of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joy Barnes and a brother, Danny Wayne Barnes.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel in Cleveland with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
