Juanita Mitchell Toahty

Juanita Mitchell Toahty passed from this life on December 13, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Juanita was a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation and was born in Muskogee, OK on April 24th, 1925 and was the daughter of David Mitchell and Jeanetta Tiger. She married Ralph Weeks Toahty on September 2, 1942. She attended boarding school in Eufaula, OK and Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS. She loved listening to classical and Big Band music and learned to play the piano and violin.

Juanita resided in Happy, TX, and also lived in Midwest City, Del City, Pawnee, and Tulsa, OK. She worked side-by-side with Ralph in the family carpet business.

Juanita was deeply spiritual reading her Bible and praying several times a day. Juanita attended the Happy Church of Christ, and the Del City Church of Christ. Juanita had a wonderful sense of humor and was a pleasure to be around and she will be deeply missed.

She leaves behind loving family Roe Toahty, David and Lisa Toahty of Del City, OK, Gennie and Kevin Clanin of Guthrie, Terry Jones of Happy, TX. and Brother-in-law Raleigh Weeks Taylor. Grandchildren Elissa Barnes, Sean Toahty, Boe Toahty, Christopher Winters, Ralf Toahty, Tobie Toahty, Rebekah Boyd, Shannon Jones, Scott Jones, Shelly Graham, Shyanne Spivey, 20 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Juanita is preceded in death by husband Ralph W. Toahty; sons Joey, Ralph, Jr., Gerald and James and infant daughter Libby.
