November 29, 1925 ~ December 30, 2015

Pauline Lula Brien Shaw, age 90, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the AllianceHealth Medical Center in Ponca City.

Pauline was born November 29, 1925 on a farm at Masham, Oklahoma, Northwest of Pawnee, Oklahoma. Her parents were Paul W. Brien and Lula (Guinn) Brien. She attended school in the rural community of Masham and graduated from Ralston High School in 1944.

During World War II she taught school in rural Osage and Pawnee Counties helping to replace the regular Male teachers who were serving in the military. Once the war was over she moved to Ponca City in the late 1940's where she lived with her sister and brother-in-law, it was through them that she met her future husband.

Pauline was married to Robert E. (Bob) Shaw in Ponca City on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1949. In the early years Pauline was a homemaker who could never resist trying a new recipe. She went to work in 1966 as a sales clerk for Zale's Jewelers, when Zales closed she was then employed by Gose Jewelers until the store was closed in 1988. She loved talking to her customers and keeping up with all the downtown gossip. After she retired she enjoyed watching her favorite soaps ''Days of Our Lives'' and ''The Young and the Restless'' and collecting recipes, but nothing mattered more to her than spending time with and helping take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; her parents and grandparents; her brother Gene Brien; brother-in-laws Rollo Wilson and Dale Chapman; son-in-laws Jimmy Russell and Steve Hunt and great-grandson Darrian Russell.

She is survived by her only child Pamela Hunt; two sisters Lucille Wilson of Broken Arrow and Mary Chapman of Bethany, Oklahoma; and one brother J.L. Brien of rural Pawnee; two granddaughters, Amanda Russell and companion Jeremy Vickery of Ponca City, and Ashley Russell and companion Anthony Muldrow of Stillwater; great grandchildren Anthony (Bubba) and Destiny Hunt of Ponca City and Xavier DeNoya and Payden Moore, both of Stillwater, and CeCe Muldrow also of Stillwater; sister-in-law Ann Brien of rural Pawnee and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at Grace Memorial Chapel with First Lutheran Church Pastor Jeremy May presiding. Burial will follow in the Masham Cemetery.
