LaVerne Dee Rogers was born January 8, 1939 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to the late Clifford and Lena Wells. She passed from this life on December 23, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 85. LaVerne was the second of two children and grew up south of Pawnee on a farm and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1957. LaVerne married Max Rogers on November 27, 1958 and they were happily married for 66 years. They were blessed with two boys, David and Mark. LaVerne enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great cook and delighted in using nice dishes, cloth napkins, and a proper set table when she served their meals. Among many things, she is remembered for her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and home-made bread.
LaVerne took an interest in painting when the boys were in school and many of her paintings are hanging throughout their home. She loved gardening, was a member of the Garden Club, and always enjoyed growing flowers on their back porch. LaVerne and Max always planted a garden and LaVerne canned many quarts of green beans as well as pickles and tomatoes. She also loved feeding and watching birds.
Max and LaVerne were big sports fans, especially when it came to watching their grandchildren, Colin and Lauren. They attended numerous baseball, softball, soccer, football, and basketball games and enjoyed getting to know all the players and families.
LaVerne served for many years on the Pennisula Fire Department Women's Auxiliary and participated in many fundraisers helping with pancake breakfasts, BBQ dinners, and bake sales.
They attended First Christian Church in Cleveland for years serving as door greeters and enjoying church fellowship. During COVID they began watching services online and taking communion with just the two of them in their home.
LaVerne would always greet you with those kind sparkly eyes and the happiest smile that made you feel that she was so very happy to see you and then give you the best hugs.
LaVerne is lovingly remembered by her Sons: David Rogers & wife Sherri - Mark Rogers and wife Tran; Grandchildren: Colin Rogers & wife Courtney - Lauren Hebensperger and husband Zach; Great Grandchildren: Keagan, Tinley, & Baker Rogers - Owen & Shiloh Hebensperger; plus other relatives and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts
