Bertha was born October 26, 1933, in Yale Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Bill and Mary Ellen (Preston) Isbell. As a young girl Bertha grew up in the rural area of Yale and began her education at the Marcum School. She later transferred to Yale School where she graduated with the Class of 1951. Following high school Bertha worked at the local bakery until she was united in marriage to the love of her life Albert Lawson Hanlon on April 1, 1956. Bertha and Albert later moved to Hallett, Oklahoma on the Lazy T Ranch prior to purchasing their current home just East of Jennings where they currently reside.

She and Albert have taken many vacations during their time together mostly to the Western parts of the United States and even into Canada several times. Her favorite places to visit were in Montana. They always felt at home during those visits because they knew everyone that was there. Most of all in life Bertha loved the times spent with her family and grandchildren. Thursdays were the time she and her granddaughter Katina would always go to the beauty shop and out to eat which always contained lessons in etiquette. Bertha and Albert also traveled to many places watching their grandson Eric play basketball. They never missed a game during his high school or college career. Bertha was a devote Christian and prayer warrior. She has been a member of the First Christian Church in Hallett, Oklahoma as well as treasure for the past 18 years.
