Carolyn Jean Waters

September 3, 1954 ~ January 10, 2020

On the third of September in 1954 a kind and sweet soul entered our world. Born to Bill and Grace Meinert in Tulsa Oklahoma, she was given the name Carolyn Jean. Baptized in the Lutheran Church, her parents raised her, her sister, and her brother to adulthood with the grace of God and love in their hearts. She also knew the pain of sorrow, along with the rest of her family, with the unexpected passing of her father when she was only sixteen. Along with the joy in her heart, some tears were shed through her life as happens to most people; but none of the tears were ever about herself. She had a tender heart that was always giving and selfless to others.

0Carolyn attended the Tulsa Public School system during her formative years. In her senior year, groups of her class took field trips to various universities to become acquainted with the various campuses for continued education. On one such trip her party journeyed to Phillips University in Enid Oklahoma. She had a close girlfriend who had a brother attending the University at that time. This friend’s brother wanted to get a group together to travel to Oklahoma City to see a new movie just out called “A Space Odyssey 2001”, so he asked one of his fraternity brothers, “Curly” as he was known, to go on a “blind date” with this girl named Carolyn. Curly, being somewhat suspicious of “Tree”, his brother in blue, insisted on taking a look at this blind date before committing. Tree fulfilled this wish by pointing her out in the cafeteria, and Curly couldn’t believe he was not being led astray! (Tree and Curly were both part of an elite sub-order of the fraternity know as “Crowbars”. … (A simple tool)

Several years later, in 1975, Carolyn consented to marry Curly, and officially became the love of his life. Although Carolyn was raised in the city, she quickly gained knowledge and became an integral part of the family’s ranching operation. Carolyn worked hard at whatever was required to take care of the cattle, the land, or the family in general.

In 1983 Carolyn delivered Bradly Ross Waters to the world. Brad would agree, that there could be no better, caring, or loving mother to have.

In the year of 2000 Carolyn procured a “paying” job at Walker Construction, located in Stillwater, as the office manager. The cattle business was pretty tough during that time, and she procured health benefits for the family as well as supplemental income. She fit right in there also. She enjoyed her work, and was with the company for ten years until it closed. After that she spent a few more years of hard work back on the ranch, before taking a job with the Pawnee County Court Clerk’s office. Carolyn become ill in late November of last year, and was called back to the Lord in the early morning hours of January 10th while in Mark’s arms.

Carolyn leaves behind: Her husband Mark, son Brad, and grandson Cadby Waters. Sister Barbara Haile, brother Robert Meinert and nephew Jesse Haile. Also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
