Merle Wayne Moffitt

Merle Wayne Moffitt of Jenks, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Friday February 21, 2020. He was 83 years old. Born on a farm four miles west of Ralston, Oklahoma and twelve miles north of Pawnee, Oklahoma at "Moffitt's Corner" on August 28, 1936, he was the son of Leonard and Dorothy (Barnes) Moffitt. Merle attended Pawnee High School and graduated in 1954; he attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1958, receiving his bachelor's degree in accounting. He married Lula Jane Skidgel on November 2, 1958, and had two children, Neil and Marla. He served as an accountant in the United States Army from 1959-1962, and continued to work as an accountant for several oil companies in Tulsa until he retired at the age of 70.

He is survived by his wife Jane of the home; sister Wilma Dee Spangler of Stillwater, Oklahoma; son, Neil Moffitt of Bixby, Oklahoma; daughter Marla Shaw of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; granddaughters Sumyr Moffitt of Jenks, Oklahoma; Heyle Moffitt of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Emily Kidd of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandson Evan Shaw of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter Chesney Moffitt of Jenks, Oklahoma; and a number of extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held Graveside Friday 2:00 P.M. in the Highland Cemetery with Dr. Mike Shaw officiating, burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
