Nancy Kay (Griesel) Burnes

Nancy Kay (Griesel) Burnes of Pawnee, OK was born March 11, 1941 and passed from this life on May 5th, 2020 at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Ok.

Nancy attended Pawnee High School and graduated in May of 1958. After graduating, Nancy moved to New Mexico where she attended Eastern New Mexico State University in Portales. This where she met her husband Donald. She and Donald were married August 26, 1963, and later made their home in Pawnee.

Nancy liked to garden, read, and spend time with her family. Nancy especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren who were the apple of her eye. She liked to sing, and for many years was the choir director at The First Christian Church. Nancy enjoyed attending church on Sundays and visiting with all of her friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Donald Burnes, a son Lane Allen Burnes, and a brother Phillip Griesel.

Nancy is survived by her four children John Cassada and wife Carrie of Abilene, TX, Todd Burnes and wife Kara of Pawnee, OK, Marisa Burnes and wife Pat of Maramec, OK, and Daniel Burnes of Phoenix, AZ. Six grandchildren Carolyn Cassada, Sarah Burnes, Aaron Burnes, Trey Kent, Jaycee Burnes, and William Burnes. One great grandson Cole Burnes.

Nancy is also survived by her sisters Marjorie Buchanan, Marianne Denny, Peggy Goodrich, Effie Medford and Husband Jim, and one brother Bill Griesel and wife Judy, and a host of cousins and friends.
